Trying to become through usual packages updates and I've encountered this problem:

See if yous can set up it in Synaptic, Edit, Set Broken Packages.

After having inserted the 2d line of command, I had a very long list of packages that weren't meeting their dependencies.
And so, I started to install what was missing.
All good, until I started to have the aforementioned kind of mistake:
Lawmaking: Select all
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libapt-pkg5.0 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading land information... Done You might want to run 'apt --ready-cleaved install' to correct these. The following packages have unmet dependencies. dpkg : Breaks: libapt-pkg5.0 (< one.vii~b) simply 1.2.35 is to be installed wine : Depends: wine1.6 but it is non going to exist installed wine1.6-i386:i386 : Depends: wine1.six:any (= one:1.half dozen.ii-0ubuntu14.2) Recommends: libp11-kit-gnome-keyring:i386 but information technology is not going to be installed Recommends: libpng12-0:i386 merely it is non going to be installed Eastward: Unmet dependencies. Effort 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution). Whatever thoughts on this?

Y'all accept both Xenial (Ubuntu sixteen.04) and Focal (Ubuntu 20.04) repos. Those are totally in conflict. You have to remove all the Xenial repos.

That wine version is seriously old. If I was in your shoes and nevertheless needing wine, I would purge it completely and install the latest straight from winehq.org.
I imagine someone else here far more knowledgeable than I am can explain the technically details equally to why your update conflicts are happening be information technology just your newer version of Mint versus the onetime wine version or newer repos or updates tin't use to older wine. *shrugs*
